A Camping We Will Go

Constructed during the Great Depression in the 1930's by the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Oyo makes its home on 52 acres near the Shawnee State Forest 10 miles west of Portsmouth off State route 125.

The camp is still in use today by scouts from all over the region and maintains a dining hall, caretaker's residence, 6 lodges, 2 maintenance buildings, 2 cabins, handicraft center, cook's cabin, shower house, and a pool.

The camp is named after what the indians called the Ohio River, OYO (Oh-HEE-oh) however the locals call the camp Oh-YO.
